Have you made a will yet? How important is it to tackle these things early on?

TOP SPOT FOR HOLGATES!Staff from Holgate’s Bay View Caravan Park, in Bolton-le-Sands, are busy celebrating after winning top spot in the Holiday Park/ Holiday Village 2014 category in the annual Marketing Lancashire Tourism Awards.

This is the second successive year that the Bolton-le-Sands holiday park has taken the number one spot.

More than 600 people, representing tourism’s top brass from across Lancashire gathered in the Blackpool Tower ballroom earlier this month, to celebrate tourism excellence in the county and to mark the 120th anniversary of Blackpool Tower.

On the evening, the glittering dinner and awards ceremony was masterfully presented by esteemed journalist and broadcaster, John Sergeant, who presented 20 of the county’s finest tourism businesses and a Tourism Superstar with their richly deserved awards. The winners of which now have the opportunity to go on and represent Lancashire in the national Visit England Awards for Excellence 2015.

But in doing so one thing is guaranteed, Bay View will be up against some very stiff competition, especially as one of the other parks in the running is none other than sister park Holgates Silverdale, which is representing Cumbria.

Ruth Connor, chief executive of Marketing Lancashire, said of the award winners, ‘You as businesses, suppliers, individuals, and entrepreneurs have created and delivered tremendous success stories that help Marketing Lancashire tell the Lancashire story in such a powerful way. I congratulate and thank each and every one of you for making such a difference to the Lancashire economy.’

Michael Holgate said, ‘Winning a Lancashire Tourism Award for the second year in a row has given the team at Bay View a great lift.

‘Alongside winning Cumbria Tourism’s Award for our sister park at Silverdale, this has created something of a dilemma, especially as two of our parks will now be up against each other representing Lancashire and Cumbria in the VisitEngland National Excellence Awards 2015. But what is really important to us all is that both parks will be representing the tourism excellence and beautiful places to be found around Morecambe Bay, an area close to our hearts and a true hidden gem.’
