Park star Sarah honoured with top award

Park star Sarah honoured with top awardAn officer worker at a Lincolnshire park has scooped a top national performance award.

Sarah Wilburn, accounts administrator at The Elms, in Torksey, picked up the prize for her outstanding contribution to the business’s success.

Since starting as a 25-year-old junior nine years ago, Sarah has risen to become a key player in The Elms’ successes.
Sarah’s efforts at the 300-plot park have now gained her an Exceptional Service Award from the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA), the official body representing Britain’s 3,000-plus parks. It is the highest honour given out by the organisation to individuals who have made ‘significant and substantial’ contributions to park businesses.

A resident in an apartment on the park, Sarah has gained a number of different distinctions after attending skills training courses.

According to park director Tracey Coulson, Sarah’s personal commitment and infectious enthusiasm has made her an invaluable asset to the park.

The Elms was established just over 30 years ago by former farmer John Kinch whose grown-up children, including Tracey, today run the business.

The 60-acre park regularly receives awards for the quality of its environment, including recently the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Award.

According to Tracey, Sarah is wholly deserving of the top honour, given each year to just a small handful of the park industry’s tens of thousands of employees.

‘Running a residential park is almost the same as running a small town, and Sarah understands just about every aspect of how to ensure everything goes smoothly,’ said Tracey.

‘She’s also a firm favourite with our homeowners who know that she can be relied upon to give any assistance necessary to help them enjoy their lives here,’ she added.
Residents can also rely on Sarah when birthdays, anniversaries and other celebrations are due, for one of her favourite hobbies is hand-making greetings cards which are sold on the park.
