Politicians promote Welsh parks

Welsh park promotionTwo leading Mid Wales politicians recently endorsed the value of tourism to the region’s economy after paying a visit to a five star park where £1 million has been invested.

Montgomeryshire’s Conservative MP Glyn Davies and Assembly Member Russell George called in at Gwernydd Hall Holiday Home Park, in the Rhiew Valley at New Mills, near Newtown during Wales Tourism Week and were impressed. Twenty pitches for lodges are being created as the park invests following the opening of a new indoor swimming pool and spa facilities last summer.

The politicians met park managers Geoff and Laura Plumridge, plus chairman Tony Bywater and managing director Mark Bebb from major caravan dealership Salop Leisure in Shrewsbury.

Mr Davies said he was impressed by the new facilities and investment, adding, ‘We have a natural environment and numerous attractions in Montgomeryshire that act as a magnet for thousands of visitors each year..

Mr George said, ‘ “It’s important that we understand and support the businesses who work within the tourism sector.’
