Ton up for park home resident Connie!Centenarian celebrates reaching three figures at Wyldecrest-owned park home estate

Wyldecrest Parks resident Connie Hobbs celebrated her 100th birthday at Shirkoak Park, near Ashford, Kent. Connie received a special birthday card from the Queen to mark the occasion. She has lived happily on the park in her 40ft x 20 Omar Ashdale since 1980 and is now one of Wyldecrest’s longest-serving park residents.

Born in Wales just before the start of the First World War, Connie married in 1940 while her husband Jack, who was an engineer, did some secret work for the Army.

She last went abroad on a holiday to France in 1955 (a doctor advised her husband not to travel abroad again after he suffered sunstroke!) and has shunned the advent of computers and mobile phone, preferring to get her news on television and radio.

She is still extremely active - Connie potters about in her garden, reads Agatha Christie novels, eats fish and chips twice a week and put her longevity down to luck! ‘I can’t believe I’ve reached 100,’ she said. ‘I think I have been very lucky. I don’t know what the secret is, perhaps a little bit of what you fancy - never did me any harm!’
