Prestige wows crowd

Prestige wows crowdPark Holidays UK invited a group of home owners to take a peek behind the scenes of a major park and holiday homes manufacturer in November last year.

Among their discoveries was that traditional artisan skills, as well as modern materials, still have a crucial role to play in building holiday homes which last.

Destination for the day was the Northamptonshire headquarters of Prestige Park and Leisure Homes which, over the past 21 years, has grown to become one of the UK’s best-respected brands.

The Park Holidays UK guests, all of whom own holiday homes across the group’s 25 seaside parks in South and West England, were given privileged access to all areas of the operation.

Their inspection tour included the 70,000 square foot manufacturing plant where Prestige builds both park homes and holiday homes with the help of its 70-strong workforce.

Although the company uses a wide range of modern high-performance materials in the construction process, many guests expressed surprise at the number of traditional skills involved.

Crafts such as joinery, metalwork and upholstery were in evidence throughout the journey of the holiday home through the factory to its final fitting out.

The pride and the professionalism behind each hand-built home, commented Prestige MD Silvano Geranio who accompanied the tour, provided a quality which would last throughout its long life.

Park Holidays UK director Tony Clish said the idea of the visit was to help owners understand why Britain’s holiday home manufacturing industry was the envy of the world: ‘There is virtually no foreign competition to our home-grown products because makers such as Prestige are continually raising the bar on design and build standards,’  he said.

‘The craftsmanship behind each holiday home is fantastic, and the construction values often far exceed the minimums laid down by British and European industry directives.

‘Buyers today can be assured that they will be able to continue enjoying their investment for many years to come,’ added Tony.

More opportunities for VIP factory tours would be announced in 2013, he said.
