Staff Raise £52,000 For Sport Relief

junenewsstaffTowergate Insurance, manned the phones to help raise in excess of £52,000 for Sport Relief this year.

Over 80 staff, (including colleagues from Bristol, Shrewsbury, London and Kent), worked from its call centre in Cheltenham from 6.30pm until midnight, answering over 1,300 calls, which collectively raised at least £40,000. At its peak, staff were taking donations from 60 people at a time.

This is the first time Towergate has joined call centres around the country to take part in Sport Relief and such was their success, Comic Relief Communications has asked the firm to support Children In Need in November.

Simon Townsend, Leisure Division Area Managing Director, said, ‘It’s very rare for a volunteer business to be asked to provide call centre support as numerous organisations are keen to offer their services and all have to go through a lengthy selection process. By answering 99.24 per cent of the calls offered, the organisers were clearly impressed with our effort and commitment in answering calls and taking donations.’

.

He concluded, ‘Raising money for good causes is our company ethos so we’re delighted to have contributed to Sport Relief. The evening was amazing – a brilliant atmosphere and a wonderful way of using our business resources to help others. We look forward to doing this again later this year.’
