What is your favourite thing about owning a park home or lodge?

newsCountrywide Park Homes gave prospective park home buyers the chance to explore its exclusive Dales View Park, near Salterforth, from 29 to 30 July. Visitors to the open weekend took in the stunning surroundings of the Yorkshire Dales and viewed a selection of the residential properties available.

Located just minutes from Barnoldswick on the edge of the Dales, the park provides spectacular views of the Pendle Valley and the rolling hills of the Yorkshire countryside.
The luxury homes at Park Dale View sit within a secure, gated community – complete with landscaped garden areas, acres of dog walks, onsite wardens and maintenance teams.

Beautiful Beaulieu!

holnews2beaulieu-showHot on the heels of the ever-popular Lawns event, which takes place in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, at the start of September, the Hull and East Ridings of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (Hercma) will be staging another event in the south of England.

The Hampshire-based Hercma event takes place on the Beaulieu estate in the New Forest from 22 to 24 September. This is the main holiday home show for the south of England and features many of the static models already seen at The Lawns – over 150 – but no touring caravans (or motor caravans). Big names like Willerby Homes, ABI, Swift and Pemberton are again expected to be in attendance.

Boiler breakdown cover tailored to the park homes

flamesure2Parksure Insurance received regular enquiries from customers about boiler cover and although at one time the company was unable to provide it, it is now available under the Home Care section of its Parksure Insurance policy.

For park homes not insured by Parksure a new boiler breakdown cover has been created called FlameSure. This is a stand-alone boiler breakdown cover, starting from as little as £2.79 a week, which includes an annual boiler service. When you consider a boiler service can start at around £75 and even a minor repair can cost £150 the benefits of having breakdown cover are clear.

While many insurance brokers will not cover boilers in mobile homes, not only will FlameSure cover them but offers decades of park home experience too.

hol2pic-for--u2-million-story-Caerwys-View-Holiday-ParkOn behalf of local park operator, agency Savills has just sold Caerwys View Holiday Park in North Wales, from a guide price of £1,995,000, to a private investor.

The established holiday park has permission for 47 static caravans inclusive of four lodges and a two bedroom owner’s bungalow. The four-acre site is situated to the south of Caerwys and benefits from views over the Clwydian Range and the Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Top holiday park crowned

hol1pic-for-top-holiday-park-story-01-SkelwithSkelwith Fold caravan park, in Ambleside, has been crowned as Lakeland’s top holiday park in this year’s closely-fought Cumbria Tourism Awards. The family-run business trumped more than 100 eligible parks in the county to take the overall gold accolade in the holiday parks category of the competition.

Park director Henry Wild says he will use the award to shine the national spotlight on Cumbria’s ‘amazing and diverse’ parks industry.

Receiving the award was also a proud moment for Henry’s father, Syd, who has been involved in the parks industry for more than 40 years, and who acquired Skelwith Fold with Henry two decades ago.

Park polling please!

polling-story-Thanks to a thoughtful holiday park owner, voters in a rural constituency near Blackpool can now make their crosses in comfort. Michael Ward, owner of Merlewood Country Park, near the village of Little Eccleston, volunteered his park’s reception building as an official polling station earlier this year.

As a result, grateful voters in July’s general election no longer had to use a mobile voting booth sited near a busy main road, which had previously given rise to safety fears. Instead, they were able to draw up in Merlewood’s large car park, well away from speeding traffic, and register their votes in much more convenient and quieter surroundings.

Exciting growth plans

augnews4One of the UK’s leading holiday park operators, Park Leisure, has just appointed a new company sales director as it embarks on a period of renewed growth. Christian Tyldesley joins the business from Bourne Leisure and replaces Phill Burton, who steps down after almost 19 years with the business.

Mr Tyldesley brings more than 22 years’ expertise in the holiday home sector and joins Park Leisure at a pivotal time, as the business looks to the next phase of growth. This will feature the enhancement of its existing five-star parks and also expansion plans for acquiring new parks in five-star locations.

Speaking on the appointment, Mr Tyldesley said: ‘Park Leisure is an incredible, fast-growing business with big ambition. The company’s ethos of reinvestment into its parks, ensuring holiday home owners enjoy the very best five-star experience, is one that resonates strongly with me and I’m delighted to join the team.’

Park Leisure chief executive Miles Dewhurst added: ‘Christian is highly regarded as one of the best sales professionals in the industry.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome him to the Park Leisure team, as we enter our next phase of growth, and are confident of the contribution he will make to the business’s ongoing success.’

Park Leisure operates ten parks in stunning settings, including Northumberland, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Herefordshire, North Wales and Cornwall.

An Anglo-American affair!

Screen Shot 2017-07-05 at 11.20.05Ritz Homes announced itself to the park home and lodge buying public at the recent World of Park & Leisure Homes Show, which took place at Stoneleigh Park, in Warwickshire, this June. Luxurious park homes and holiday lodges, featuring a refreshing blend of American and British designs, are currently being crafted at the company’s swish Humberside facility. Later this year a second, purpose-built 600ft long assembly plant will start production and feature an adjoining indoor showground displaying a dozen model homes, too.

The elegant Hampton is Ritz’s residential park home flagship, combining a nine foot flat ceiling and spacious rooms, delivering a timeless West End Penthouse ambiance.  Such elements typically appeal to the more discerning, affluent and sophisticated buyers.

Cumbria park is teaching toddlers to aim high

augnews2Toddlers staying at a Lake District holiday park have been provided with a £20,000 play zone which could put them – quite literally - on the path to peak fitness.

That’s because Silverdale Holiday Park’s new soft play area is designed to help develop the skills needed to tackle Cumbria’s world-famous fells.

The colourful multi-level mini-gym presents a series of fun challenges which are tackled with a combination of climbing, scrambling, clambering and crawling.

But while the youngsters are letting rip, says the park, they are also preparing themselves for taking on more grown-up activities in the Lake District.

Benefits will include developing muscular strength, hand-eye coordination, flexibility, balance, endurance and agility as the calories burn away.

Staycation-driven boom

augnews1One of the UK’s premier touring caravan, motorhome and holiday caravan dealers, Salop Leisure, attracted nearly 19,000 visitors to its annual West Midlands Caravan and Motorhome Spring Show, in Shrewsbury. The event was 18 per cent up on last year and sales across the business increased by between 15 and 20 per cent. It seems that more people are now looking to holiday in the UK, with this dramatic increase in ‘staycations’ helping the sales boom.
