Olympic stars shine at gala

Olympic stars shine at galaThree top Olympic swimmers made a splash with park home residents in Lancashire this month when they were welcomed as VIP guests at a special swimming gala.

The event took place at Acresfield Health Club and Spa, adjacent to Acresfield Residential Park and the adjoining Wyre Vale Residential Park in the market town of Garstang.

The gala was the first to be held at the club since it opened three years ago, and saw the three Olympians each captain their own individual teams in a friendly swimming contest.

They were Rebecca Adlington OBE, one of Britain’s best-known female athletes; Stephanie Slater MBE, Paralympic medallist from Rio 2016; and Rob Bale, GB team member from London 2012.

In the event, it was Rebecca’s team which came top, and members stood proudly in line to be presented by her with a commemorative trophy.

Buzz around new prestige model

Buzz around new prestige modelPrestige & Homeseeker Park & Leisure Homes will exhibit six residential park homes and a luxury holiday lodge at this year’s National Park and Holiday Homes Show at the Newbury Showground from 19 to 21 May.

This exciting line-up will include the brand new Avanti, which was being readied for the event as we went to press.

As yet, PH&HC doesn’t have many details about this model – the manufacturer is understandably keeping such trade secrets under wraps until Newbury – but we can reveal that the Avanti is a residential model, described as a ‘street scene style home with a fronted entrance’.

It sounds like the Newbury showgoing public will have lots to look forward to from Prestige & Homeseeker!

Look out for a more detailed appraisal of this, and other show-stopping models, in our June issue show review and a further in-depth home review in the future.

At Newbury, showgoers can visit more than 200 exhibitors and enjoy daytime entertainment including bingo, a sixties quiz and the annual dog show.
Prestige and Homeseeker will be available to speak to on stand 11P.

Other homes on show will include the Bowmoor Lodge, which was launched recently at the NEC Show with its brand new interior scheme, the Reprise, Anthem, Residence, Sofia and Sonata II.

Geronimo! Parks create splash for water-fun fans

water-fun fansPark Holidays UK is making waves for holiday home owners this spring by sinking more than £5m into modern new swimming pool complexes at three of its top-rated parks.

The splash is part of an even wider development programme across most of the group’s 26 holiday parks in southern England, aimed at creating world-class leisure opportunities.

But despite the scale of the investment, says Park Holidays UK, the owners of holiday caravans and lodges on its parks won’t have to pay a single penny to enjoy the new facilities.

At Seawick Holiday Park in Clacton, the curtain has already been lifted on a new £3m complex boasting a pool and high-tech entertainment centre.

‘TAKE UP OUR CHALLENGE SAJID !’

april news92Prestige & Homeseeker calls on communities secretary Sajid Javid to back park home builders,
following a recent Government White Paper

The Government announced exciting plans to force councils to produce an up-to-date plan for housing and use a £3bn fund to help smaller building firms challenge major developers, including support for off-site construction, where parts of the building are assembled in the factory.

A spokesperson for Prestige & Homeseeker Park & Leisure Homes said: ‘We challenge the communities secretary Sajid Javid MP to find better off-site construction than the park homes industry where we deliver homes with the curtains fitted too.

‘We as an industry have been producing off-site construction for over 50 years and are affordable, but obtaining planning for new park home developments is impossible. ‘I would also like to send you an invitation to our state of the art factory in Northamptonshire where they are manufactured.’

Prestige & Homeseeker encourages PH&HC readers to share this story and like its Facebook post on the subject at www.facebook.com/prestigePLH/ so that Mr Javid will takes up the challenge to visit the company!

Insuring against fire damage

april news88After a serious fire at a Gloucestershire park that saw the loss of two park homes and damage to others, we asked Paul Baker, of Paul Baker Insurance Services (PBIS), to explain what home owners should expect in such circumstances.Fires of this kind are rare and there were no fatalities, but it did cause extensive damage.

Paul explained: ‘All park home insurance policies should include loss or damage caused by fire, and any subsequent damage caused by smoke, as well as providing cover on a replacement-as-new basis.

‘Total loss situations like this can test the adequacy of the sums insured. Our ‘Select’ and ‘Economy’ policies insure structures up to £600,000 and £300,000 respectively.

‘While the fire may have spread from another home, the damage to your home will be covered by your own park home insurance, in the first instance.

Keep on pedalling!

april news88bIt could be said that PHCS’s Cathi Foale was a little ‘cycling lazy’ in 2016. However, that doesn’t mean she’s been redundant! She has been pedalling on a more low-key level, choosing to do longer weekend tours in the UK.

Cathi’s largest tour was in Dijon, France. Dijon, capital of the historic Burgundy region, is also one of the country’s principal wine-producing areas. We’ll say no more, Cathi!

However, Cathi and her partner Paul are back with a vengeance for 2017 and have already made plans for their chosen charity: the MS Society. They have previously raised money for Age Concern, Bowel Cancer Research and the Royal Berks ‘da Vinci Robot’ for revolutionary cancer treatment, undertaking lengthy and testing cycle tours.Cathi and Paul have now confirmed dates for their cycle challenge to help raise money for the MS Society. They will be cycling 500 plus miles in eight days, traversing the Apennine Mountain range from Bologna to Rome, Italy.

New offices take Parksure to a new level

ParksureSpecialist mobile and leisure home insurance broker Parksure and its parent company, Cass-Stephens, recently celebrated a successful office move.

Parksure and Cass-Stephens, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, have been looking to move for some time after outgrowing their old offices due to the growth of the business following several acquisitions in the past few years and the taking on of more staff to deal with the extra business that ensued.

Parksure’s Matthew Cass said: ‘While the Regency buiulding was a lovely old building, it did actually work against us somewhat.

‘The new offices now allow us to be on one level in an open plan office, so we can now all see each other and talk to each other openly, allowing us to offer a much better and more efficient service to our clients.’
