Have you made a will yet? How important is it to tackle these things early on?

Residents at Bracknell park site happy to get the hump!

auguatnews72Warfield Park, in Bracknell, is the first residential park home estate in the UK to benefit from the installation of a unique traffic calming system.

Signature’s TransCalm is a speed responsive bolt down road hump that alters its firmness based on the speed of the vehicle passing over the unit.

There are many advantages to the TransCalm over a traditional solid road hump. The TransCalm is almost entirely made from rubber meaning that there is significantly less chance of damage to vehicles driving over it.

The rubber construction also means there are none of the vibrations associated with solid humps that can cause distress for residents living next to the installation. The TransCalm educates users by allowing compliant drivers to travel more smoothly, eradicating the need for the ‘stop-start’ driving styles associated with traditional humps. Last but not least, the TransCalm is a fully self-contained bolt down unit that can be installed in less than 90 minutes, and once installed needs minimal maintenance.

Rooms with views

rooms with viewsEnjoying the relaxing surroundings of a holiday park week after week during the summer is grand – but an even better experience is the view that you can enjoy from your second home and glorious countryside round about.

One such park is Mother Ivey’s Bay on Trevose Head in North Cornwall which is said to offer the kind of views across the clifftops which has made TV’s Poldark such a hit.

Prices for new holiday caravans start at around £74,000, while previously-occupied ones are available from about £20,000. Pitch fees are about £4,000 a year and further information can be found at

MP homes in on comfortable reality of park living

MP homes in on comfortable reality of park livingA brand new home from Pathfinder wowed the crowds at London Olympia for the 107th Ideal Home Show earlier this year.

North Thanet MP Sir Roger Gale swapped Parliament for a residential park in his constituency on 10 April to meet the business owners and some of the park’s residents.

Sir Roger made his visit to Keat Farm Close Park in Herne Bay where a small development of 19 high quality park homes are owned by people in or near retirement.

The MP was responding to an invitation from business owner Malcolm Kent who said he was keen to explain more about his park and the lifestyle it offers, and the workings of new park homes legislation.

It was over 60 years ago that Malcolm’s father, Ron, first turned part of his three-acre Herne Bay smallholding into a camping field.

Today the business has grown to a total of nine Kent-based residential and holiday parks, run by Malcolm in conjunction with the family and other directors.

From around £140,000, Sir Roger heard, those aged 50-plus can own a modern purpose-built home in well cared for surroundings at Keat Farm Close Park.
