Have you made a will yet? How important is it to tackle these things early on?

Berkeleyparks bride

Berkeleyparks brideAnyone who has bought a home on one of Berkeleyparks high-quality residential estates will almost certainly have spoken to Frances Dent, either on the telephone or in person. Frances has a long history in the park homes industry and for the past 27 years has been sales administrator at Berkeleyparks’ head office.

In future, though, inquirers will have to ask to speak to Frances Cowderoy because Frances was married to John Cowderoy in September. The couple were blessed with a wonderfully sunny day and Frances looked stunning and so very happy.

John is not involved in the park home industry. Although he is English, most of his working life was spent in Norway in the wholesale bridal business, and he moved back to England just a few years ago. Naturally, he has already met many of Frances’s ‘park home’ friends and contacts (several of whom were at the wedding) and will undoubtedly learn more about this very friendly industry in the years to come.

Dream job

Dream jobThe new managers of a luxury caravan holiday home and lodge park in picturesque South Shropshire say they literally have to pinch themselves every morning to prove that they are not dreaming. Russ and Jane Smithurst gave up good jobs in their home county of Nottinghamshire to take over at Bow House Country Park, near Bishop’s Castle.

Jane worked for the social services department for 30 years while Russ ran his own building business. They took the decision to change their lifestyle after staying on Morris Leisure’s Oxon Hall Touring Park in Shrewsbury. ‘We were sat sunbathing and we questioned what we were doing with our lives,’ said Jane. ‘We were nearly 50 and it was time we did something that we both enjoyed. We love being outdoors and being together, and had spoken about becoming managers of a caravan park for about three years.’

A sterling performance and a fresh new perspective

A sterling performance and a fresh new perspectiveAt the Stoneleigh show this year Sovereign exhibited not one but two park homes, a lodge and a more traditional park home, both built to residential standards and demonstrating its expanding breadth of offering. The Arden lodge looked sleek yet stylish with a new interior design, and the new Berkswell park home was a real crowd-pleaser offering something for all.

This is a manufacturer not set to stand still, and to push forward and innovate, so it will be interesting to watch with its up-and-coming model releases.  Expansion plans are already in the pipeline, and new team members are joining steadily in line with their quality and assurance ethos.

Keith retires after 42 years at Tingdene

Keith retires after 42 years at TingdeneKeith Hibbett had worked for Tingdene for nearly 42 years  at the time of retiring in late April 2015.

Forty-two years is a long time with any one company and he will have seen many changes during this time.

Tingdene has been in business for 46 years, so Keith has been a key part of the company’s progression over the years.

Keith’s main role in the early days was to work on the roof trusses, which at this time was for single homes.

Later he moved to work on the flooring before moving back to roof work, and experienced the changes that took place even within that process, firstly towards felt roof, then later tiles and, of course, the development along the way to twin units.

Wyldecrest Parks hits Herefordshire

Wyldecrest Parks hits HerefordshireWyldecrest Parks has just expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of a new mobile home park. The company has stepped into Herefordshire with the purchase of Saltmarshe Castle Caravan Park, its first site in the region. ‘This is a stunning park. Wyldecrest can’t believe that we’ve had the opportunity to find such a gem and are proud to add it to our portfolio,’ said Wyldecrest Parks’ Chairman Alfie Best.

The brand new Wyldecrest site, located on 67 acres of land, within a peaceful rural setting, approximately 2.5 miles north of the town of Bromyard, is currently planning to build over 360 park homes, with planning permission for 520. The park has been created in the grounds of Saltmarshe Castle, a former country house. Although the Castle itself was demolished many years ago, parts of the outer walls and turrets still remain, together with various outbuildings and stables, making this a historic and beautiful park.
